BEGINNER ENGLISH · A1–A2 · FOUR-WEEK PROGRAMME

A1–A2 Online English Speaking Course for Adults

You know a few words, but putting them together while someone is waiting feels difficult. Perhaps you can understand a simple question yet struggle to answer in a full sentence. This beginner-friendly programme focuses on the language you can use straight away: introducing yourself, asking questions, describing your day and handling familiar situations.

Our method is simple: learn a small vocabulary toolkit, practise an easy sentence formula and then use both in guided conversation. Lessons are supportive and practical; you do not have to make perfect sentences to take part.

Everyday English Foundations is a four-week programme outline for adult beginners and elementary learners. Practise everyday questions, sentences and conversations through supportive live speaking activities.

Course dates, fees and availability

This A1–A2 programme is not currently listed as a bookable November class. Check the live timetable for available groups, or ask Paul about the next beginner course. An enquiry does not reserve a place.

Not sure about your level or availability? Ask Paul a question.

Typical course format

  • Four live online sessions across approximately four weeks, each lasting 50 minutes.
  • Small-group practice for adults, with up to six learners in an advertised group.
  • Clear tutor examples, repeatable speaking tools, realistic roleplays and helpful corrections.
  • Class dates and course fees are confirmed separately on the current timetable.

Who is the A1–A2 course for?

  • Adults who know some basic English but need more confidence building sentences.
  • Learners who want to ask and answer questions in shops, cafés, while travelling or in everyday life.
  • People who want to practise simple past and future messages without learning long grammar rules first.
  • Students who prefer supportive guided speaking over listening to a long grammar lecture.

Starting level: This programme is designed around A1–A2 skills, not advanced grammar. If you are completely new to English or unsure of your level, contact Paul before choosing a cohort.

Your four-week course plan

Week 1 — Build sentences you can use

Use everyday verbs such as go, have, need, like and want. Practise a short sentence formula: PERSON + ACTION + DETAIL. Make statements about your daily routine, family, interests and plans without trying to translate a long paragraph.

Speaking challenge: Introduce yourself, say three things about your typical day and add one extra detail to each answer.

Week 2 — Ask questions and keep the conversation going

Build useful questions with do, does, can, where, when and how. Practise short replies that give the other person enough information to continue. Learn polite phrases for repetition and clarification.

Speaking challenge: Play a new-neighbour or café conversation: ask four simple questions, answer them and ask one question back.

Week 3 — Talk about yesterday and tomorrow

Use a small set of common past forms such as went, had, saw and did, alongside everyday future plans with going to. Practise time markers that help your listener follow the story.

Speaking challenge: Describe a recent day in four connected sentences and explain one plan for next weekend.

Week 4 — Speak in everyday situations

Bring the language together in realistic scenarios: ordering something, asking for information, arranging a meeting or talking about travel. Practise what to do when you forget a word.

Speaking challenge: Complete two guided roleplays, then repeat them with less tutor assistance.

A small speaking toolkit to try now

TIME + PERSON + ACTION + DETAIL

Today: Today I work from home.
Yesterday: Yesterday I went to the shop.
Tomorrow: Tomorrow I am going to visit my friend.

Now change the activity and say all three sentences aloud. You can start with short answers and add details when you are ready.

What progress are we working towards?

By the end of the four sessions, the aim is for you to feel more comfortable beginning simple conversations, explaining routine activities, asking useful questions and making yourself understood in familiar situations. Progress varies with your starting level and practice between sessions.

What happens during a lesson?

Paul demonstrates useful language briefly, then gives you guided opportunities to speak. You will practise sentence builders and vocabulary in realistic conversations, receive focused feedback and try the same task again with improvements. Short between-lesson practice suggestions may be provided so the toolkit stays useful outside class.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the November A2–B1 Speaking Confidence course?

No. The A1–A2 Foundations programme has a beginner syllabus. The November timetable currently lists a separate A2–B1 Speaking Confidence course for learners with a little more English. Check the advertised level and details carefully before booking. See the current timetable.

Do I have to speak in front of other people?

Speaking practice is the point of the course, but tasks begin with manageable prompts and simple formulas. You can ask for repetition or clarification when needed.

What if I cannot find an A1–A2 date?

The programme will not necessarily run every month. If no beginner cohort is listed, please enquire rather than buying a different level by mistake.

What happens after four weeks?

If you become comfortable with simple everyday conversations, you can ask Paul whether an A2–B1 conversation group would be a suitable next step. Group dates and levels depend on the current timetable.
