INTERMEDIATE ENGLISH · B1–B2 · FOUR-WEEK PROGRAMME
B1–B2 Online English Speaking Course for Adults
You can understand English and communicate the basics. But when someone asks an unexpected question, you hesitate, search for words or give much shorter answers than you would in your own language. This four-week speaking programme helps you organise ideas quickly, build richer answers and stay involved in real conversations.
Instead of spending most of the lesson listening to explanations, you will practise with reusable speaking formulas, short vocabulary toolkits and detailed, guided roleplays. The focus is clear communication, not sounding artificially complicated.
Confident English Communication is a four-week small-group programme for intermediate adults who understand plenty of English but want to speak more naturally, explain their ideas and handle real conversations.
Course dates, fees and availability
This page describes our general B1–B2 programme. Current classes may have different level ranges or themes, including A2–B1 Speaking Confidence and B1–B2 Business English. Compare the advertised course names, times and learning goals before booking.

- Interactive practice for adult B1–B2 learners in groups of up to six.

Who will benefit?
- Intermediate speakers who freeze, pause for too long or rely on the same simple words.

- People who find small talk difficult or struggle to ask natural follow-up questions.
- Adults who want to explain their opinions politely and respond spontaneously.
The four-week speaking programme
Week 1 — Answer without freezing
Use thinking-time phrases such as Let me think…, I’d say… and What I mean is…. Develop the ANSWER + REASON + EXAMPLE structure and practise responding to unexpected questions.
Speaking challenge: Give a clear 60-second answer to a new question with one reason and a relevant example.
Week 2 — Natural small talk and better follow-up questions
Use ANSWER + DETAIL + QUESTION to keep a conversation alive. Practise situations such as meeting colleagues, travelling, joining an event and chatting over a meal. Learn to react when the other speaker answers briefly.
Speaking challenge: Maintain a natural three-minute small-talk exchange without relying on a memorised script.
Week 3 — Opinions, reasons and respectful disagreement
Connect ideas with because, although, however and for example. Express agreement and disagreement politely and explain your preference in a group conversation. Change your explanation when a listener needs more detail.
Speaking challenge: Participate in a short discussion, defend a preference and respond to a different viewpoint.
Week 4 — Real-world speaking challenge
Combine the skills in realistic scenarios. Examples include solving a shared problem, organising an event, discussing a proposal or handling a surprise question. Receive individual feedback on clarity, vocabulary and one useful grammar or pronunciation improvement.
Speaking challenge: Handle a multi-stage roleplay and compare your first answer with your improved second attempt.
Speaking toolkit: Make your answer stronger
ANSWER → REASON → EXAMPLE → DETAIL
Question: Is working from home a good idea?
Answer: I think it works well for some people.
Reason: They can concentrate without so many interruptions.
Example: For example, I find it easier to finish detailed tasks at home.
Detail: I still think meeting colleagues in person is important.
Try giving the opposite opinion. Keep the same four-part structure but use your own ideas.
What should feel different after four weeks?
The goal is to begin answering with less hesitation, support your opinions with relevant examples, use more natural follow-up questions and recover when an unfamiliar word interrupts your speaking. Individual improvement depends on your starting level and practice.
How Paul’s teaching works
Lessons are speaking-heavy. The tutor introduces a concise language toolkit, models a conversation and gives learners time to speak, adapt the language and try realistic scenarios. You receive helpful feedback on mistakes that affect clarity, followed by another opportunity to practise.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as the November Business English Accelerator?
No. This is the general B1–B2 speaking programme. The current November timetable also contains a separate B1–B2 Business English Accelerator focused on work. If professional communication is your priority, that may be a useful alternative, but it follows its own advertised syllabus and schedule. Check live availability.
Is the course suitable for someone at A2?
Learners working primarily at A2 may be more comfortable with an A1–A2 foundation course or an advertised A2–B1 group. If you’re unsure, ask Paul for guidance before booking.
What if I miss a session?
Attendance and cancellation arrangements depend on the specific advertised cohort. Please check the booking terms before paying; no make-up session or recording is assumed unless explicitly offered.
For extra practice between lessons, try how to stop freezing when you speak, how to give longer answers, and five small-talk dialogues.
Practise for free before choosing a class
Try How to stop freezing when speaking English, how to give longer answers and B1–B2 small-talk conversations. These resources are free to use whether or not you decide to book a course.
What happens after four weeks?
After this programme, students can build on their fluency through additional conversation practice, a suitable Business English group or more advanced speaking work. Ask which currently advertised class fits your level and goals.
